Meet Our Staff

Michael April, M.D. received a B.E.S. in Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.  He received his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia, and served his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York University Rusk Institute.  Dr. April is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  He has been practicing in his native Rockville since 1989.  Dr. April has served as Team Physician for several local high schools and served as the medical director for high school wrestling in Montgomery County for 20 years.  He has also served as a team physician for TEAM USA at the World Maccabiah Games and the Pan-Am Maccabi Games and was a member of the silver medal USA Men's Open Fastpitch Team at the '09 World Maccabiah Games.

Kevin Benson, D.C. received his B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland and his D.C. from the New York Chiropractic College.  Dr. Benson is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner and a Certified Master Golf Fitness Instructor.  He is also certified in dry needling, ART, and kettlebell training.  Dr. Benson was an All-ACC and Honorable Mention All-American football player at the University of Maryland.   He played football in the NFL and CFL.  Dr. Benson has been a wrestling official for Maryland high school wrestling since 1986.  He also coached football at Seneca Valley High School for 12 years, including 7 State Championships.

Paula Mintzies, D.S.W., L.C.S.W. received a B.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University, a Masters in Social Work from Hunter College of Social Work, and a Doctorate in Social Welfare from Adelphi University School of Social Work.  She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker and a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.  Dr. Mintzies has been in practice since 1980 and has been working in the area of Mind Body Medicine since 2005.  She received training from the Arthritis Foundation and the Mind Body Medical Institute of Harvard Medical School.  The focus of her work is increasing and sustaining effective skills in pain and stress management, cognitive reframing, and learning and practicing the relaxation response.
